TL;DR

A Slice of Something Different

Italian food is a firm favourite in Melbourne, and Pizza Religion has quickly become a crowd favourite. The open kitchen design allows diners to watch the pizza-making process up close. β€œWe weren’t classically trained in Italy but wanted to do something a bit different,” says co-owner Matt Hunter.

Tradition with a Twist

Their successful formula blends traditional Italian flavours with a creative twist, using fresh, high-quality ingredients β€” so much so that they’re planning to expand their dining space and add a wine bar soon.

Award-Winning Pizza Craft

Pizza Religion recently won Best Pizza in Australia at the Global Pizza Challenge for their 18-hour braised beef cheek pizza, topped with celeriac and truffle. This signature dish remains a staple on their small menu, alongside favourites like the roast lamb shoulder, slow-cooked for 12 to 14 hours.

Small Space, Big Demand

With under 30 seats, it’s wise to get there early. Takeaway and delivery are available when the dining room fills up, and there’s a courtyard out back that caters to larger groups and functions.
